About Joe Vasile

Meet Joe Vasile

Joe Vasile is an award-winning sports broadcaster providing play-by-play for college athletics in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Joe is the voice of Bucknell University women's basketball and has seven years of experience working in minor league baseball, including spending the last two years as the Media Relations and Broadcasting Assistant for the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, the Triple-A affiliate of the New York Yankees.

Vasile was born in New York City and grew up in nearby Paramus, N.J., developing his love of sports through rooting for the New York Mets, New York Giants, New Jersey Devils and New Jersey/Brooklyn Nets. He got his sportscasting career started at the age of nine, winning first prize in the WFAN/The Wiz Mets Kidcaster Contest. Things got a little more serious while Joe attended The College of New Jersey, getting hired as a junior in college as the play-by-play voice of Widener Unversity football.

Upon graduation, Joe has worked for a variety of teams and schools up and down the east coast, including the Fayetteville SwampDogs, Wilkes University, UNC-Pembroke, the Salem Red Sox, and the Long Island Ducks. Joe has also worked on a freelance basis for over half a dozen colleges and universities in the NY/NJ/Connecticut tri-state area.

In his free time outside of sports, Joe enjoys reading, fitness, cooking (fairly well), playing golf (not as well), watching movies, playing one of the five instruments he can play, and spending time with family and friends. His Mount Rushmore of current play-by-play announcers consists of Al Michaels, Gary Cohen, Ian Eagle and Joe Buck.
